XJTISS-- Introduction to vacuum science, technology, and applications

[Introduction]

This is an introductory course for researchers and students who require knowledge of practical vacuum to operate their vacuum equipment (ex.: SEM, XPS, Auger instruments) as well as for early career vacuum scientists, engineers and technicians who is going to use vacuum in their work and research, in design and operation of vacuum systems for research and industrial application, particle accelerators, space instruments, and many other applications.


[Teaching Masters]


Dr. Oleg Malyshev is a Lead Scientist for Vacuum Science and Technology in Accelerator Science and Technology Centre located at UKRI/STFC Daresbury Laboratory near Warrington in UK. His work is related to all aspects of vacuum system design and operation: from experimental work on measuring desorption yield and pumping speed, calibration gauges and RGAs to applying the experimental and theoretical result to the gas dynamics modelling of accelerator vacuum systems and, finally, writing CDRs and TDRs for various projects.


Dr. Jie Wang, PhD, Associate Professor, Doctoral supervisor. Her research field is accelerator-based neutron source, including: accelerator technology, neutron source technology, radiation protection, laser principle and application, nuclear medicine.

[Admission Information]


Entry Requirement: The program caters to a wide variety of audiences, not only the undergraduates and postgraduates in Materials Science and Engineering, all students are encouraged to join in the program without grade requirements.

Enrollment:  Students from XJTU participate in offline courses, while students from other schools participate in online courses.

Student treatment: Xi'an Jiaotong University provides a study certificate (completion certificate) for this summer course.
