Teaching Experiments Center (TEC) is an independent department for undergraduates’ practice teaching which directly belongs to School of Energy and Power Engineering. It is mainly devoted to specialized basic course and experiment instruction of specialized course for the undergraduate students, experimental education platform construction and other practice teaching work of the college.
TEC is equipped with 3 fundamental labs and 6 professional labs. The space area is 3587m2 with the total value of experiment equipments RMB15 million yuan. There are over 100 test rigs in the TEC which include a set of 62.5kw Generation System, a set of 50m3/h air separation system, various Power machinery equipments and all kinds of radioactive sources.
There’re 12 full-time practice teachers, including 5 Senior Engineers, 4 Engineers and 3 Associate Engineer in TEC. The teachers of TEC indicate over 200 experiments in 50 subjects each year, covering more than 100 classes and 16 majors, and guide students to do experiments 25,000 times per year.
TEC undertakes the teaching experiment guidance mainly for 5 specialties, including Energy Power Engineering and Automation, Nuclear Engineering and Nuclear Technique, Process Equipment and Control Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Technique and Environment Engineering as well as other relevant specialties of relevant colleges, such as Material, Mechanical Automation, Aviation, etc.
Besides completing comprehensive, verifiable and demonstrated teaching experiments, students in TEC can also apply for design and innovative experiments at any time. In addition, the center’s teachers can provide consultation and guidance of extracurricular competition for students as well.
TEC is currently an experimental teaching demonstration center construction unit in Shaanxi Province. At present it is applying for the "12th Five-Year" national experimental teaching demonstration center.
