Intensified carbon capture for natural gas power plant using rotating packed bed (RPB) technology

(2) 报告简介:

The seminar will start with an introduction to Carbon Capture (especially solvent-based carbon capture), followed by our research on intensified solvent-based carbon capture using rotating packed bed (RPB) technologies. The first part will be a critical overview of intensified solvent-based carbon capture. We will evaluate different process intensification technologies for use in post-combustion carbon capture (PCC). Then we will look at experimental rigs worldwide, solvents to be used, and modelling\simulation of such a process. The second part will focus on RPB Absorber modelling, model validation, process analysis and techno-economic assessment in the context of 250 MWe gas-fired CCGT power plant. The third part will explore why inter-cooling is necessary in a typical RPB absorber and (more importantly) the design of different RPB absorber intercooler.

(3) 报告人简介Personal Profile & Picture：

王美宏教授是英国谢菲尔德大学过程与能源系统工程研究小组带头人，在将建模、优化和控制用于发电厂、碳捕集，利用和存储（CCUS）、储能和生物能源方面拥有丰富的研究经历。他于1999 年加入伦敦帝国理工学院和伦敦大学学院的过程系统工程中心。2004 年至 2016 年，在英国阿尔斯通电力公司、克兰菲尔德大学和赫尔大学工作。曾获英国研究基金(EPSRC and NERC)、欧盟委员会(European Commission)和工业界价值超过 2000 万英镑的 20 多个研究项目。发表了200多篇科学论文（包括 133 篇同行评审期刊论文、54 篇同行评审会议论文、41 篇会议论文或Oral Presentations），是世界上被引用次数最多的前 2% 的科学家之一。 2014年，他被英国机械工程师学会（IMechE）授予Ludwig Mond奖。 关于大规模储能的论文（Aneke and Wang，2016）被爱思唯尔授予Applied Energy被引用次数最多的综述论文奖。 2019年，他是尼日利亚科学奖（非洲最大、最负盛名的奖项）共同获得者。王教授领导的过程强化碳捕集研究项目入围2019年英国化学工程师学会（IChemE）全球奖（能源类别）。2022年，获得西门子PSE基于模型的创新（MBI）奖。 2023年当选英国工程技术学会（FIET）会士。 2024年再次获得尼日利亚科学奖，并当选欧洲科学院院士及欧洲科学与艺术学院院士。
