报告题目： Boron Neutron Capture Therapy （硼中子俘获疗法）

报告摘要：Boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) is a therapeutic technique that utilizes energetic alpha particles and back-to-back recoiled 7Li ions from boron (10B) neutron capture reactions for cancer patient treatment. Alpha particle and 7Li ion have a combined range in tissue of 12–13 µm (comparable with cellular dimensions) and total kinetic energy of 2.33 MeV. BNCT treats locally invasive malignant tumors such as primary brain tumors and recurrent head and neck cancer. In this seminar, the direct and indirect ionizing radiation sources for BNCT are identified. Mechanism of physical, chemical and biological radiation interactions for BNCT are systemically described and analyzed.

江仁台教授简介:

Prof. Ren-Tai Chiang, graduated in 1970 from National Taiwan Normal University, obtained the PhD of Nuclear Engineering at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1980, became a principal engineer in General Electric Company in 1985. In 2006, he became a visiting professor of University of Florida and a consultant of Southern Nuclear Company. He is the consultant and general manager of Energy Engineering Service at San Jose since 2014 and the visiting professor of Sun Yet-sen University at Zhuhai since 2016.

Prof. Ren-Tai Chiang used to work at nuclear industry and he has over 30 years’ experience of industrial development and academic research. He was elected as a Fellow of American Nuclear Society in 2003 and he is currently an ANS Standard 19 Committee member.
