Toxicity of Atmospheric aerosols: methodologies and assays (XJTISS)
Time: Beijing time 19:00-21:00, July 19-26, 2023, daily
Class sessions: 16×50min in total, 2×50min each day
Course format: Free online course
Introduction
Atmospheric aerosols, especially PM2.5, are the largest environmental health risk factor globally. The impact of PM2.5 exposure on human health is closely related to everyone. This course mainly introduces the theoretical basis and experimental methods of aerosol toxicology, aiming at providing students toxicological methods to evaluate the toxicity and health hazards of atmospheric aerosols, which may help improve students' understanding of the health risks of PM2.5, and inspire students to think about environmental issues such as climate change and environmental pollution.
Fobang Liu is the lead teacher of this course. He is an associate professor in the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering at Xi’an Jiaotong University. Prior to that, he got his PhD at Max Planck Institute for Chemistry, and postdoc training at Georgia Institute of Technology. His research interests focus on understanding the health effects of ambient particulate matter. He wrote the book Toxicity of atmospheric aerosols: methodologies and assays, which was recently published in ACS In Focus (https://pubs.acs.org/doi/book/10.1021/acsinfocus.7e7012).
