报告摘要:This talk addresses two problems in coalescence and mixing of two initially stationary droplets. First, I will present a theory that unifies the previous scaling laws governing the dynamics of liquid bridge connecting merging droplets. The theory is amazingly simple but innovatively integrates the integral equation and asymptotic analyses flow self-similarity and interfacial vortex. Second, I will present a numerical investigation on the internal jet-like mixing after droplet coalescence. The emergence of the internal jet is attributed to the formation of a main vortex ring. A vortex-ring-based Reynolds number is found to satisfactorily interpret the occurrence of the internal jet at various droplet viscosities and size ratios.
报告人简介:张鹏,香港理工大学副教授,于2010年获得普林斯顿大学机械与航空航天工程博士学位, 2010-2012年普林斯顿大学燃烧能源中心、康奈尔大学博士后,2012年入职香港理工大学助理教授,2017年晋升副教授。张博士目前的研究领域是液滴和喷雾动力学,理论化学动力学,超音速燃烧和火动力学。美国宇航协会高级会员(Senior Member AIAA)和国际燃烧学会、美国物理学会、化学学会会员。曾获中国科学院、普林斯顿大学、香港理工大学颁发的多个科研奖项。先后在PNAS, Journal of Fluid Mechanics, Physics of Fluids, Combustion and Flame, Proceedings of Combustion Institute等国际顶级期刊发表论文40余篇。
