讲座题目:Multi-Pixel Field Emission Based X-ray Generators

摘要:The first concept of multi-source Computed Tomography (CT) systems originated in the 1980s, and opened the way to innovative system concepts in X-ray and computed tomography. Multi-source CT systems offer promising opportunities in system performance. In addition, multi-source X-ray radiographic systems are widely studied, namely for X-ray stereographic imaging, X-ray tomosynthesis imaging, and inverse-geometry imaging. One significant benefit of the multi-source X-ray technology is the ability to fabricate the source array in various two-dimensional configurations. The more complicated distributive source topologies are designed to improve the sampling of projection data, to further improve both in-plane and depth imaging resolution within the constraints of the limited-angle acquisition of projection data. In multi-source systems, the X-ray sources are arranged in an array format, and each source is launched individually. However, current X-ray generators are not suited for these systems because of their large size, huge power requirement, and slow response. This talk will focus on the field emission X-ray technology that enables to the realization of multi-source CT systems.

讲座人介绍:姚智伟是加拿大滑铁卢大学系统设计工程系教授、先进微纳米设备实验室(Advanced Micro-/ Nano- Device Lab)主任, 国家第十批“青年千人计划”入选者。现任加拿大微纳米器件研究主席,IEEE Nanotechnology Council Newsletter 主编、IEEE Nanotechnology MagazineIEEE Transactions on Nanotechnology副主编。


John T. W. Yeow received the B.A.Sc. degree in electrical and computer engineering, and M.A.Sc. and PhD. degrees in mechanical and industrial engineering from theUniversityofToronto,Toronto,ON,Canada. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Systems Design Engineering atUniversityofWaterloo,Waterloo,ON,Canada. His current research interests are in the field of developing miniaturized biomedical instruments. He is a recipient of the Professional Engineering Ontario Young Engineer Medal, Professional Engineering Ontario Engineering Excellence Award, Natural Science & Engineering Research Canada Innovation Challenge Award, Douglas R. Colton’s Medal of Research Excellence, Micralyne Microsystems Design Award, Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation’s Early Researcher Award, andUniversityofToronto Alumni Association7T6 Early Career Award. He is a Canada Research Chair in Micro/Nanodevices. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Nanotechnology Magazine, and an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions of Nanotechnology. He is a Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada, and a Member of College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists of the Royal Society of Canada. He is also a 2017 IEEE Nanotechnology Technical Council Distinguished Lecturer.
